Ordnungs und Kardinalzahlen

Ordnungs- und Kardinalzahlen werden unerschiedlich genutzt. Während Ordnungszahlen in der gesprochenen Sprache verwendet werden, kommen die Kardinal- oder Grundzahlen eher in der Schriftsprache zum Einsatz.

Zehner- und Einerzahlen werden mit einem Bindestrich geschrieben:
forty-three, sixty-two

Einer- und Zehnerzahlen werden mit Hunderter- und Tausenderzahlen durch and verknüpft:
two hundred and sixty-two, three thousand five hundred and twenty-one

Dezimalzahlen werden mit einem Punkt, Tausenderstellen mit einem Komma abgegrenzt:
3.08 (Deutsch: 3,08)
5,700 (Deutsch: 5.700)

Die Aussprache von Null ändert sich je Kontext:
In der Mathematik: zero (AE), zero, nought (BE)
Bei Zahlenreihen/Telefonnummern: O
Sportergebnisse: nil, zero (AE)
Tennis: love

Während im Deutschen nach einer Ordnungszahl ein Punkt steht, werden im Englischen die letzten beiden Buchstaben des Wortes angefügt. Diese werden oft hochgestellt:
